Welcome to MS Therapy Centre (NW)

Established in 2004, the MS Therapy Centre (NW)’s aim is to enrich the lives of people with Multiple Sclerosis by providing therapies in a caring, supportive and positive environment. The aim of the therapies is to enable them to have a better quality of life. We are a self-help group and UK registered charity endeavoring to provide a complete service for MS sufferers who visit us from across the North West.

Over the past few years the charity has seen its membership increase from forty to now approximately four hundred. We continue to see an increase of members attending our centre on a regular basis and our trustees have extended membership to varying neurological conditions, forms of cancer and other conditions which would benefit from Oxygen treatment.

Our centre has a small, dedicated team of management who along with our fantastic volunteers work hard to keep the centre running smoothly. The centre relies on the kindness and goodwill of our volunteers.

We offer a range of therapies and services designed to manage both physical and psychological symptoms, improve quality of life and limit the effects of the illness. Our drop-in centre is a valued support hub for our members and their families to share experiences and socialise.

Please browse our website and if you feel that we can be of assistance, please contact us.

If any of our friends can pledge to the big give campaign that would be amazing. The minimum pledge is £100 and you fill the form in, the pledges don’t get collected til January so no need to throw money in now. The centre receives no government funding and relies on donations to keep us open. Thank you 🦋💙
Please pledge to help us with the move to our new facility #thebiggive #mstherapynw

I like the idea of a fundraiser, but why do it so far from the centre ? Trafford park to Liverpool is quite a way. This could mean some people who perhaps use chairs and ring n ride can't attend.

RULES FOR HAVING M.S SUCCESSFULLY!!!!

• In order to have M.S successfully, you should acquire a cleaner, gardener, cook and general handyman. If this is impossible, you should find a rich, devoted, non-talkative partner with few outside interests

• Do not consider M.S unless you have a downstairs toilet

• It is essential that you budget and plan for M.S as you will require an answer-phone, tumble dryer, dishwasher and many other supposedly “luxury” items

• It is advisable to get rid of dependent children (unless very helpful) and ask elderly relatives not to have any major crisis during the course of your life

• Pets are a help, but they must be self-expressing and quiet. Furriness is a comfort if you have no allergies

• All visitors should be advised to bring their own food (and some for YOU too). Overnight visitors should bring bed linen and take it home to wash

• Patients should buy a new dressing gown fit for public viewing

• Before embarking on this illness, the patient should make a badge which says “Looks alright, feels awful” and a selection of self explanatory leaflets giving details of the illness

• The latter should be carried and distributed on all possible occasions, to protect from any misunderstandings, ignorance and downright nastiness

• The person with M.S (as the most restricted member of the household) should be establish absolute authority over the TV remote

• The person with M.S should let it be known that his/her needs will change from day to day without notice and family members who help/fail to help appropriately will get their heads bitten off
