New – Morecambe Bay Walk 2026

We arranged the Morecambe Bay Walk last year and had so much fun that we are doing it again this year.  We’d love you, your family and friends to join us on Sunday 9th August.  It’s a great day out and you really feel that you have achieved something at the finishing line.  This is a great opportunity to take part in the iconic cross Bay walk with the award winning Michael Wilson, Kings Guide to the Kent estuary.  Michael is a local fisherman from Flookburgh, as were his ancestors before him.  He understands the movements of the channels in Morecambe Bay, where he has lived all his life.  This walk will be meticulously planned and Michael will read the route using markers placed before the big day.  People have walked across the sands of Morecambe Bay for hundreds of years.  Before the arrival of the railway it was the main route to and from the Furness peninsula.

The walk is internationally known and varies depending on the route taken on the day.  It starts at the pretty and picturesque promenade of Arnside and takes approximately 3-4 hours.  The route affords plenty of panoramic views of the surrounding Lakeland Hills and those of Lancashire and Yorkshire.  The walk covers 6 – 9 miles with the first 1.5 miles along the beach covering rocky ground, path and roads and then moves onto the sands at White Creek.  During the walk you will cross the River Kent channel and you will get wet!  The walk ends at Grange Promenade, Grange over Sands.

Everyone is welcome; family, friends, children (Aged 8 and over), dogs (on a short lead not an extending one please) and groups are all welcome.  Feel free to pass this email on to anyone you think might be interested.
